The AFRINIC board has ratified the intra-regional transfer policy in Africa. No timeframe has been established for implementation of this policy, which will for the first time provide a policy framework for transfers of legacy and non-legacy space within the AFRINIC region. Additional policies are under consideration to build on this transfer policy, including one to allow for inbound-only inter-regional transfers.
While we believe addresses will flow where market pressures take them, we support the adoption of one-way transfers into AFRINIC and LACNIC as positive steps towards a true global transfer market that operates in support of a borderless Internet.
We are watching closely for implementation of policy-based transfers in Africa, and will begin to broker these transfers as soon as policy is implemented.
IPTrading will be sponsoring a booth at the LACNIC27 meeting in May. Please stop by to chat about your IPv4 transfer interests.
